Among the hustle and bustle of work and city life, people are sometimes busy to journal and take pictures when they explore the city they live in or travel to new places.
What if we focus on having a simple way to explore the city we live and travel to new places for everyone in the family to enjoy while having the option to journal down and take picture easily.
Here I came up with the idea - Locus. Locus aims at encouraging people to go out of their rooms to find interesting, popular and unique spots. Locus offers a brand new way to discover new places and share locations, pictures and journal content with family and friends.
When a user physically attends a spot by using Locus, they can earn badges based on their activity.
User Research, UX Design, Visual Design, Prototyping and Testing
My process will be different will be determined by many factors such as the project goals, business needs, complexity of the problem, time and etc. Here I’ll describe my process for solving this problem.
Interviewing users to find pain points.
Create several sketches and potential solutions.
Design mid and high fidelity wireframes.
Test with users to get feedback.

By conducting user research and interviewing a couple of people I have identified user pain points. I found patterns in users perceptions and tasks and aggregated my findings in the form of a persona.
Calm Escapes is intended Ages 7 and up. Parental guidance is recommended for ages 13 and below.
I have identified Find My Friends, Google Maps and Yelp as three of my competitors because they have similar features to what Locus will be solving in the app. By creating a SWOT Analysis, I identified the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of each app/website.
Users want to have an app where they can easily find a place where it's enjoyable for the entire family. Users want an easy way to jot down any interesting things they encounter during their trip as well as taking photograhs and short videos.

After Branding I designed the Information Architecture for Locus where I have potentially wire-framed the potential app flow of Locus based on the survey results.

Click on picture below to get started.

User 1:
" I like how the map is clear without any confusion."
User 2:
" I wonder if it could have an option to give me suggestions on places to visit."
User 3:
" I like how the log In screen is clear."
I have learned that the map feature is key part in designing for a travel app because it lets the user choose if they would be able to go depending on their busy schedules.
